Outreach Campaign for Mahoosuc Land Trust

As Membership and Outreach Manager at Mahoosuc Land Trust (MLT), I spearhead the design and production of our printed materials, manage the outreach calendar, and produce regular email campaigns (among other things!). I work closely with the Development Manager to ensure projects meet the organizations needs and have helped to overshoot the annual fundraising goal in both 2022 and 2023.

One of the primary member benefits is the quarterly newsletters that features articles from each of the staff members of MLT. This project often represents a challenge to fit large, in-depth articles into 8 pages. I manage the project from theme ideation through soliciting articles, editing copy, and design.

A standard article design for an MLT newsletter will feature a header image, which anchors the design and invites the reader to begin reading the article. I often have to find creative ways to fit everything in these 8-page newsletters, because the articles are generally lengthy and our readership trends older and requires 12pt font for accessibility. I relish this challenge!

Many of our members are foragers, so I decided to appeal to this base with a charismatic and vivid mushroom photo against a rich green background, which is one of MLT’s core brand colors.

This postcard was a fun little challenge to use a wide photo while including a large block of text and keeping the whole piece feeling unified. I used simple rectangular design elements and color matching parts of the photo to connect the image and the text.

Harriet L. Hartley Conservation Area Branding & Outreach

Friends of Harriet L. Hartley Conservation Area is a nonprofit protecting 8 acres of coastline in Belfast, ME from development into a massive corporate land-based fishery (LBF). Their goal is to spread the word about harmful LBFs, and push for better practices in the LBF industry.

This branding and style guide was designed to be extremely user-friendly for the volunteers who run the organization, none of whom are designers. By limiting it to one page and writing it very conversationally, I hoped to make it as accessible as possible.

Identification Posters

This series was inspired by classical science illustration posters and botanical plates. Each subject was illustrated in Adobe Photoshop and compiled using InDesign. I was careful to choose fonts that evoke a sense of history while remaining uniquely modern to match the digital illustration style.

This animation was commissioned to be part of a video about the Maine Land Trust Network. The goal was to illustrate the large number of conservation organizations across the state.

RNA: Building Blocks of Life

Student Project

Scientists have long believed that the building blocks of life, RNA, were formed around hot deep-sea vents, where hot and cold water mixed in a "primordial soup." A new theory proposes that RNA were actually formed by repeated wetting and drying of nucleotides at the edge of primordial hot springs.
